On March 14 Bob Dill and Bob Schumacher broke the Land Yacht speed record by going 108.8 mph in 25 to 35 mph winds. The previous record was held by Bertrand of France at 94.7 mph. Bob Dill has been refining the Iron Duck for over 7 years in his hometown of Burlington, Vermont. The speed measurement team was headed up by Kent Hatch, President of NALSA.


On March 20th the Iron Duck went even faster and set a new record of 116.7 mph in 30 mph winds. Several runs were made in the 109 to 112 mph range. The Iron Duck was running at 1600 lbs with an 88 square feet wing sail. The 12 square foot flap had been removed.
