Rich Crnichs' new Land Yacht. With Rich standing alongside you can get a sense of size. It is a large and beautiful yacht.
Another view of Rich Crnichs' new yacht. It features a custom 59 square foot sail made from Mylar laminate with Kevlar reinforcing fibers along lines of stress. It also has 16 inch Alu wheels with precision bearings and motorcycle racing tires. The wooden axle is very flexible with carbon fiber reinforcement on the under side. The axles were finished off with a fiberglass wrap and gel coat.
Rich also made a smaller version Yacht. It looks to be about a 75 percent scale. It was equally beautiful and featured the same fine workmanship as the large one. The sail is made from an 8 meter Windsurfer sail with the curve cut from the mast pocket and the bottom removed so that there is a straight line from the clew to the mast, and a new boom pocket and mast pocket added on. This larger sail together with the yacht being smaller enabled crusing in lighter winds.
This is Bob Todds' yacht. He graciously let me take it out for a ride. It features a very soft wooden axle and forebody which gives it a very luxurious ride. It also has a very nice sail and moves out smartly when the wind is up. A very nice yacht.
